Inaugural match between Nobles and Andover volleyball

At Nobles on October 28, 2015 at 3:30 PM

With impending rain approaching Andover arrived at Nobles knowing that we would have to play well to secure a win. A gym several degrees colder than we are used to frize our start - a very strong defensive and scrappy Nobles team forced a change in tactic

In set #1 Nobles led the whole way. In set #2 Andover found its rhythm and guving Annette Bell support for 6 consecutive servicepoints to a 7-2 lead; later the team supported Erica Shin on 4 consecutive service points for a 15-8 lead. Fran Trautman later served Andover ahead 18-10. Andover evened the match 1-1. Going into the third set, and the losing side, Andover finally got a shadow of our normal aggressive attack going and pulled away from a 8-9 deficit on Annette Bell's serve to 12-9. Evelyn Mesler secured an 18-13 lead on her serve. Three rotations later, Andover up 23-20, Nobles setter #24 served Nobles to tie. A key side-out and Annette Bell serving secured a 2-1 lead in sets. The fourth set played itself out very similar to the third. Andover broke a 6-6 tie on Darcy Burnham's serves to 9-6. Andiver ahead 24-18 allowed Nobles setter #24 to get them back to 24-24. A key side-out on an aggressive hit by Janneke Evans on the outside and a well-placed serve secured the match. Thank you to Andover parents for the delicious sandwiches and support. We wish Nobles all the best for the rest of the season - a great squad with verys strong athletic ability and drive. Andover (10-1) prepares for Deerfield trip on Saturday.
