Andover outlasts NMH
At home on October 1, 2016 at 4:00 PM
Claudia Leopold and Evelyn Mesler from Andover combine to serve NMH into a bind, both muddle blockers who also contributed strong blocking and hitting in the middle today.
Claudia Leopold earns the award today for most service points at 13.
In the first set PA led the whole set, going up by as mych as 9 points at 18-9, eventually winning the first set at 25-20.
In the second set PA gelled, and got some key points/saves from new starter Caroline Yun at OH. The widest margin at the end with a win 25-16.
In the third set PA went ahead 10-5 but NMH tied it after 4 rotations at 15-15 and did not let Andover gain enough service points to make up the difference. Into a 4th set we go NMH winning 25-20.
In the fourth set PA came out blazing, much credit to Anezka Kuncova's hard serves, 5-0. Three rotations later Brooke Fleming throws in 3 service points if her iwn to give PA a 11-3 lead. NMH kept picking away at the lead when at 22-20 PA sided out and Caroline Yun served out the match 25-20.
A good win against a team that was not at 100% and struggling with some communication issues as to whose ball is it; well, PA also with Caroline Yun in for injured Janneke Evans, also battled with the same issues and dropped more balls than this coach wanted to see.
Proud of the team to yse some game strategies we worked on this week, and players are finding their range.
Andover now 5-1 in the season.
A big match against Choate (away) next Saturday.
Thanks to the (many) fans and families who came out to support us today, and thanks to the managers who did the scoring and official work.
