Dana Hall prevents another Andover come-back

At home on October 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM

Andover took the first set convincingly. Dana Hall turned the tables and deservedly took the next two. Andover fought back and took the fourth forcing a fifth deciding set. Andover was stuck in a frozen rotation losing the fifth.

Andover found their groove in the first set and took advantage of miscues on the Dana Hall side to take the first set. In the second set Andover played not to lose, and lost. Dana Hall fought aggressively in the third, deserved their win and a 2-1 lead. In the fourth set Andover played to win again forcing miscues on the other side. Riding a high from evening the score Andover looked poised to take the fifth, but then froze in a serve-receive rotation that allowed Dana Hall to aggressively serve 8 consecutive points. Coming off a poor-playing loss to Choate last week, and a performance today that was salvageable, Andover has its work cut out to prepare for an away match at Exeter this coming Wednesday. Serena Liu takes the honors today for most service points: 20. Chioma Ugwonali deserves an extra mention stepping for missing middle hitter starter and playing a good match, as does Caroline Yun filling in for injured starter at outside hitter for the second week in a row and bringing consistent positive results at the net. Adaeze Izuegbunam did a superb job subbing in for Claudia Leopold in the fourth set who had to take care of an injury. This coach is grateful to have such a deep bench, and a great group of athletes who make every day working with them a positive memory.
