Andover bests Taft in quarterfinal

Any match between Taft and Andover honor calls are made.day Today Taft libero inicated she had touched the ball that the referee had not seen. The reversal of the call set up match point for Andover.
Kudos to Taft, especially coach Ginger O'Shea.
In the first set Andover pulled ahead on Evelyn Mesler's 6 point serving streak to put Andover ahead 10-4, and again on Fran Trautman's 6-point serving streak for a 20-13 lead. Enough to secure a 25-19 first set.
In the second set, Darcy Burnham setting, it was Tiffany Baumann whi served 8 straight to out Andover ahead 14-7. Enough to secure Andover a 25-19 second set.
In the third Andover did not find an answer to Taft stepping it up, hitting hard and playing phenomenal defense, at one point, down 6-19. Although Andover inched its way back, Taft gained confidence and forced a 4th set.
Taft took the momentum into the 4 th set. Tied 7-7, Taft held a soft advantage until 12-14 when they opened that lead to 12-18, and 16-21. At this point Fran Trautman served 6 crucial points for a 24-21 advantage. That and a side-out decided the match against a tough and determined Taft team.
