Four Big Blue Scorers extend GVS win streak to 5 games

At Deerfield on October 31, 2015 at 3:45 PM

GVS traveled on a beautiful fall afternoon to face the Big Green eager to get back a tough loss from two years ago at this time. Wasting no time, GVS went up 2-0 in the first five minutes of the game. Two goals in the second half secured the win.

Andover jumped out to an early lead behind goals from Cassie Chin, assisted by captain Caroline Shipley, and followed three minutes later with a goal from scoring sensation Sarah Humes. Midfield/forward Humes continues to amaze as she has scored at least one goal in last six games. In spite of a 2-0 lead early on, Deerfield found the back of the net on an outside blast at the 30 minute mark. Momentum shifted for the majority of the first half as the Andover girls, led by co-captains Jeanine Moreau and Shipley, tried to maintain control of the ball and pace of game. The second half saw a determined GVS squad eager to put the game away. A gritty goal by a speedy Caroline Shipley, one v. one with Deerfield keeper, pushed the game to 3-1 and Bri Fadden '17 scored her first GVS goal of the season to put the game out of reach. Britney Bourassa earned Player of The Game for her determined play in the backfield. The girls now turn to the biggest match-up of the season against undefeated Nobles. Come cheer on our seniors - Caroline Shipley, Jeanine Moreau, Olivia LaMarche, Savannah Mastrangelo, Sarah Humes and Claire Glover - in their final Graves game of their career at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
