Seniors Lead GVS to Victory on the Road Over NMH

At NMH on October 22, 2016 at 4:00 PM

GVS improved to 6-4-1 and notched their fifth shut-out of the season with three goals by three seniors, Natalia Suarez, Zoe Oasis and Jordyn Fenton. Jordy was named Player of the Game after notching her first goal of the season.

GVS hit the road on a drizzy Saturday afternoon to beautiful Northfield Mount Herman. Controlling much of the play, the girls found their way onto the scoreboard just before halfway into the first half. Zoe Oasis served a great ball to midfielder Natalia Suarez who confidently finished inside the box. The Big Blue entered the half with a 1-0 lead but knew they had to step up their execution to keep the game out of reach for the Hoggers. Outside back Kaitlin Hoang continued to create lots of chaos with her flank runs and big crosses but it was a perfectly slotted ball to her best friend Zoe Oasis that proved to be the difference maker. Team leading scorer Zoe Oasis found the back of the net to stretch the game to 2-0. In the final 10 minutes of the game, Emma Murphy sent a beautiful cross into the box where Jordy Fenton courageously challenged in the air to put the ball behind the NMH keeper for the final Big Blue score. Fenton was named Player of the Game after her first goal of the 2016 season. Co-capt Antonia Tammaro earned her fourth shutout in net. The back line of Nikki Dlesk, Tookie Wilson, Deyana Marsha and Kait Hoang gets stronger and stronger with each passing week, continuing to shut down opposing team's offensive threats with smart play. The team now looks to an important week ahead with a road match-up versus Thayer on Wednesday.
