GVS remains Undefeated in last 7 outings and earn 3-1 win on the road at Thayer

At Thayer on October 26, 2016 at 3:45 PM

Upper Krys Swain notches one goal in each half to earn Player of the Game and senior Zoe Oasis grabs a goal and an assist as the Big Blue continue to gain momentum in the final weeks of the season. Antonia Tammaro earns the win in net with four saves.

Traveling to the South Shore on a crips fall afternoon, the Big Blue tallied two early first half goals from Zoe Oasis and Krys Swain to gain momentum as the squad headed into halftime. Knowing that Thayer would not give up its fight, the Andover girls knew they would need to get back on the board again in the second half. Only a minute and a half into the second half, Bri Fadden broke in behind the Thayer back line and found herself attacking a Thayer defender one-v-one as teammate Krys Swain made a run down the opposite side of the field. Fadden showed incredible composure and timed a perfect ball slotted across the top of the 18 to Swain who drove a great shot to the far post beyond the Thayer defender. Swain was named Player of the Game for her great work in the final third. The back line of Deyana Marsh, Tookie Wilson, Kait Hoang in front of keeper Antonia Tammaro proved tough to beat once again. Thayer found themselves on the scoreboard in the final minutes of play after and Andover own-goal on a corner kick. While Thayer pushed numbers forward in an attempt to close the gap, Andover stayed composed and turned away any final efforts. Thanks to all our great parents and grandparents too who provided amazing cookies AND hot chocolate as the weather turns cold. A shout out is in order for our great JV squad too who earned a 5-1 win and cheered GVS on in the final minutes of play from the sideline.
