SOLID win for the Big Blue today

A solid win for the Big Blue against a strong Hopkins team sets up the swimmers and divers for an awesome meet against Exeter next Saturday.

The 44th Year of Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving travelled to The Hopkins School in New Haven CT today. This is always a great meet with awesome talent and great team spirit! This year, the Anodver team came out on top. 110.5 to 75.5 In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Emma Donchi ’18, Ally Ty ’18, Liz Tran ’19 and Jess Gearan ’18 won with a time of 1:52.69. Third place went to Anna Lang ’19, Kathleen Ty ’19, Grace Hitchcock ’20 and Lindi Schroeder ’20 with a time of 1:58.26. Katherine Sweetser ’17, Macey Mannion ’19 and Jackie Rossi ’20 went 2-3-4 in the 200 free with times of 2:01.31, 2:04.29 and 2:05.88. This was Rossi’s debut in this event this season. A 1-3-4 finish was posted in the 200 IM by Tran, Donchi and Lang with times of 2:15, 2:17.42 and 2:23.82. Ally Ty won the 50 in a time that was faster than 24.83 (second place; timing system did not work). Amy Xia ’19 tied for 3rd with a time of 26.61. Kathleen Ty ’19 was 6th: 26.84. In the diving, Claire Davis placed second with a score of 199.10 and Ora Cullen placed third with a score of 196.05 In the 100 fly, Sweetser and Sarah Zhao ’18 placed 1-2 with times of 1:00.44 and 1:04.20. Xia was 4th with a time of 1:05.50 For the 100 free, a 2-3-4 finish by Ally Ty, Gearan and Rossi won the event in the following times 55.88, 56.60 and 57.68, respectively. The 500 produced a solid 2-3 finijsh with Hitchcock (5:36.83) and Sarah Choi ’18 (5:48.22) In the 200 free relay, Hopkins pulled a first place finish to our second and third. In second, Tran, Angelreana Choi ’19, Rossi and Sweetser swam 1:45.05 while Kathleen Ty, Lindi Schroeder ’20, Hitchcock and Xia posted a solid time of 1:47.57. The 100 back came and Donchi placed second with a time of 1:01.29. Gearan came in 4th and Mannion was 5th in 1:03.68 and 1:04.78, respectively. The 100 breast, Kathleen Ty won the event with a season best 1:12.33. Schroeder was third with a time of 1:17.28 and Emma Chatson ’18 was 4th (1:17.68). In the final event, the 400 free relay, Andover dominated with a first and second place. Gearan, Sweetser, Tran and Ally Ty swam 3:44.46 while Hitchcock, Rossi, Mannion and Donchi swam 3:53.33. ** A new pool facility is the likely next step in the athletics master plan – following completion of the Snyder field house and squash center.
