Andover beats Exeter; this makes 6 of the last 7 years!

Great win by a hard-working team. Ally Ty '18 broke a 20 year old pool record in the 100 backstroke!

Andover beats rival Exeter! This win makes 6 of the last 7 years! Andover still holds 11 of the 12 Andover/Exeter meet records! This year’s Andover/Exeter meet was recorded LIVE on Facebook. The recording can be found on the public page: Phillips Academy Swimming and Diving. The 44th Year of Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving capped off its regular season at home against Exeter and prevailed 108-78! Ally Ty ’18 set a new pool record in the 100 back with a time of 58.32 (previous record from 1997 of 59.01 – M. Lague of the New England Barracudas) In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Emma Donchi ’18, Ally Ty ’18, Liz Tran ’19 and Jackie Rossi ‘20 won with a time of 1:53.86. Third place went to Anna Lang ’19, Kathleen Ty ’19, Grace Hitchcock ’20 and Sarah Choi ‘18 with a time of 1:59.66. Katherine Sweetser ’17 eeked out a first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.15 (second: 1:59.22!). Jess Gearan ’18 was third with 2:02.41. Macey Mannion ’19 pulled in 5th with 2:04.76. A 1-2-4 finish was posted in the 200 IM by Tran, Donchi and Lang with times of 2:13.18, 2:17.40 and 2:21.63. Ally Ty won the 50 in a time of 24.71. Amy Xia ’19 was fourth with a time of 26.51. Kathleen Ty ’19 was 5th: (26.86). In the diving, we went 1-2-3 with Reese Pelletier ‘s ’20 return and first place finish after an early season injury took her out for weeks (246.80 points). Ora Cullen ’20 was second with 217 and Claire Davis ’20 was third with 208.20. In the 100 fly, Sweetser won with a time of 1:00.58 while Sarah Zhao ’18 placed 3rd with a season best time of 1:03.68. Xia was 5th with a time of 1:07.12. For the 100 free, a 3-4-6 finish by Gearan, Rossi and Angelreana Choi ’19 with times of 56.23, 57.20 and 57.86 was a short set back. The 500 produced a solid 1-2-4 punch with Tran (5:19.20), Hitchcock (5:29.60) and Mannion (5:40.55). In the 200 free relay, Exeter pulled a first and third place finish to our second! Yikes. In second, Gearan, Xia, Rossi and Sweetser swam 1:44.27 while Kathleen Ty, Angelreana Choi, Sarah Choi and Lindi Schroeder ’20 posted a solid time of 1:46.14. The 100 back came and Ally Ty swam 58.32 to win it and smash a 20 year old pool record. Donchi placed third with a time of 1:01.04. Wei was fourth with 1:03.93. In the 100 breast, Kathleen Ty was barely second with a time of 1:12.61 (first: 1:12.43). Schroeder was third with a time of 1:16.64 and Emma Chatson ’18 was 6th (1:17.59). In the final event, the 400 free relay, Exeter won and Andover went 2-3. Gearan, Sweetser, Tran and Ally Ty swam 3:44.05 while Xia, Hitchcock, Angelreana Choi, and Donchi swam 3:52.53. ** A new pool facility is the likely next step in the athletics master plan – following completion of the Snyder field house and squash center.
