JV slips ahead of Exeter to win!
The Andover Boys' Cross Country team began its competitive season on Saturday at the N.M.H. Invitational. Unseasonably high temperatures reached well into the 80's to make this tough course even tougher, but the Big Blue rose to the occasion and ran two very strong races. Sidi Abdoulaye and Estevan Velez, both of N.M.H., ran beautifully on their home course, in spite of the heat, to finish 1st and 2nd, and they were followed by Exeter's excellent Quincy Tichenor for 3rd. Captain Ethan McIntosh '15 finished 1st for Andover and 4th overall in a time of 17:25. Loomis brought in two runners before Andover's Paul McGovern '15 and Ralph Skinner '16, and then first place was claimed by the Exeter team with their 2nd through 5th finishing all in a row. Andover's varsity squad was completed by Tom Burnett '15, Arthur Doran '15, John Gorton '15, and Keton Kakkar '15. Varisty team scores: Exeter 45, Andover 50, Loomis 58, N.M.H. 66, and K.U.A. 155.
Andover came came back to win the JV race. Loomis and Exeter brought in a runner apiece before Andover's Basil Alfaro '18 crossed the finish line in 19:46. Abhinav Venigalla '15, Holden Ringer '17, Colby Lapointe '16, and Kailash Sundaram '15 finished 7th through 10th, respectively, to round out the Blue's scoring five. Andover's other JV finishers included BrianPaul Robert '16, Tevis Vitale '16, and Sebastian Bishop '17. JV team scores: Andover 37, Exeter 40, Loomis 76, N.M.H. 86, and Cushing 148.
