Varsity boys finish 1 through 5

On an overcast, humid day in Wallingford, the Andover boys raced Choate in the first dual meet of the season. Captain Holden Ringer '17 and Giacomo Marino '18 ran a beautiful race to finish together in 17:14. They were soon followed by Basil Alfaro '18 (17:40), Nathan Goldthwaite '18 (17:47), and Jacob Buehler '19 (17:49). Choate, with two of their top runners out with injuries, brought in their first finisher just before Alex Fleury '20 (18:26) and Sam Tobin '18 (18:28) completed the Andover seven. Spencer Davis '18, Sebastian Bishop '17, and Alex Emerson '17 ran in the varsity race as well, finishing in 18:37, 18:48, and 19:09, respectively. Andover wins, 15-48. The JV race was closer: Andover slipped past Choate to win 28-29. Way out in front, Choate took the first spot before Andover's Anthony Minickiello '20 finished in a strong PR time of 18:45. After two more Choate runners, Jake Zanazzi '18 (19:27), David Cohen '18 (19:41), Henry Crater '20 (19:44), and Brett Sawka '17 (19:47) took 5th through 8th to secure the win. The JV squad was rounded out by Jack Dacey '20 (19:51), Michael Turner '20 (20:00), Will Baxter-Bray '18 (20:21), Ethan Brown '17 (20:34), William Leggat '20 (20:57), J.P. Tang '18 (21:26), Khari Greene '20 (21:28), Isaiah Lee '19 (22:14), Ward Bradt '18 (22:19), and Riley Gillis '19 (23:22). The Andover boys thank Choate for a great meet at their beautiful course and look forward to racing at St. Paul's next weekend.
