At home on October 29, 2016 at 2:45 PM

Captain Holden Ringer '17 led the varsity team to victory, and Max Yang '20, in his home course debut, did the same for the JV team.

The Big Blue put on a great show for the parents and other fans who turned out for Family Weekend and the team's one and only home meet of the 2016 cross-country season. Andover's Holden Ringer '17 battled Deerfield's brilliant front-runner Hughes Benjamin throughout the race, trading the lead back and forth, until he edged past him one and for all on the Great Lawn. Ringer finished first overall in a blisterin' season's best time of 16:33. After Benjamin, Andover's Giacomo Marino '18, Nathan Goldthwaite '18, and Alex Fleury '20 came in before Deerfield's number two. Jacob Buehler '19 finished 5th for Andover, 3rd overall. The extra large varsity squad was rounded out by Sam Tobin '18, Sebastian Bishop '17, Alex Emerson '17, Spencer Davis '18, Jake Peffer '17, and Brett Sawka '17. Varsity wins, 20-39. The JV race highlighted the depth of Andover's team with a solid 15-50 win. Max Yang '20, in his first race on the home course and only his second of the season, finished first in a smokin' 17:55. Fifteen more Andover runners came in before Deerfield's first: Jack Dacey '20, David Cohen '18, Anthony Minickiello '20, Jake Zanazzi '18, Michael Turner '20, Jack O'Neil '19, Henry Crater '20, Will Baxter-Bray '18, Ethan Brown '17, William Leggat '20, J.P. Tang '18, Khari Greene '20, Riley Gillis '19, William Locke '19, and Isaiah Lee '19. Rounding out the JV 26 were Daniel James '18, Myers Hogan '19, Ryan O'Meara '17, Davis Barrow '20, Jack Curtin '19, Will Ennis '19, Douglas Yang '20, Maxwell Bao '20, Abhinav Tadikonda '20, and Puru Sankarnarayan '20. The team thanks Deerfield for a great race and all the spectators for their support. We're looking forward to racing Exeter next!
