Hard fought game between neighbors

Andover, MA- The BVS team opened its season with a 1-1 tie against a tough Brooks team. In the first half, both teams battled for possession, but neither team was able to impose their game on the other. On a quick transition, Brooks did manage to go ahead on us as a quick loss of possession led to an open winger who whipped a hard and low driven ball that found the feet of an open Brooks player just outside the six-yard box. At that range, Brooks' Jacob Iwowo made no mistake and put the northern neighbors up 1-0 and to the break we went.
In the second half, the Blue team came out determined to reverse the score and got on the board in the 47th minute of play. The tying goal came by way of captain William Raphael'18 (Andover, MA) who received and finished a fantastic cross from Andres Marx '18 (Chicago, IL) delivered from the left side of the 18-yard box. After the goal, both teams had great opportunities to go ahead, but great defense on both ends of the field did not allow for more goals on the afternoon.
We thank all the parents and Blue supporters that came out to cheer for us. Your support makes us work harder. Hope to see you next time as we go up against a tough Milton Academy team.
