Gaiss Selected All-American

 

Phillips Academy senior Kaitlin Gaiss has been chosen as a member of the 2009 Under Armour All-American Girls’ Lacrosse team.  Gaiss, a four-year senior from North Andover, Mass, is the starting goalie on the PA varsity team and has been honored as one of the top 46 high school players in the nation.  As a member of the North team, she will participate in a the Under Armour All-Star game in Baltimore this June.  Gaiss, a standout in goal for Andover since her lower year, was named a New England Prep School Women’s Lacrosse all-star and a U.S. Lacrosse first team high school All-American last spring.  She also played goalie for the Lower New England second team at the U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament in 2008.  Gaiss plans to continue her academic and lacrosse career at Duke next year.

Wadland Named All-Ivy, Nominee for Tewaaraton Award

 

Julie Wadland (PA ’06) has been named to the 2009 All-Ivy Women’s Lacrosse Team in her junior year at Dartmouth College.  A co-captain of the Dartmouth team, Wadland has been a three-year starter in goal for the Big Green after finishing a tremendous high school career at Phillips Academy.  In addition, Wadland was honored earlier this spring as one of 23 semi-finalists for the annual Tewaaraton Award.  Considered the pre-eminent award in college lacrosse, the Tewaaraton honors the top male and female lacrosse players in the country.  Wadland, who has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week multiple times this season, was a three-sport standout at PA in soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse.  Having grown up in Andover, she was a four-year varsity goalkeeper for PA in lacrosse, compiling a 45-10 career record including a stellar 12-2 mark in her senior season.
