Collegiate Scholars & Athletes

The Andover Water Polo Program is pleased to recognize two recent alums, Jamie Neuwirth ’06 and Howie Kalter ’07, for their performance in the classroom and in the pool.

A Junior at Johns Hopkins University, Neuwirth was recently named to the 2008 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Squad.  A three-time member of the varsity water polo program—and 2008 NCAA Division III Eastern Champions—Jamie had another outstanding season:  17 goals, 7 assists, 4 steals, 5 exclusions drawn, and 1 block.  This summer, he will be representing the United States at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Kalter, a Sophomore at Bucknell University, was also named to the ACWPC All-Academic Squad while starting in 28 games for the perennial-powerhouse Bison.  During the 2008 campaign, Kalter scored 42 goals and made 31 assists.  This spring, Kalter participated in a tryout for the United States National Team under the supervision of water-polo legend, Terry Schroeder.
