An 11-2 season ends with a heart-breaking loss in the semi-finals against Hotchkiss.  Andover took the first set where little went wrong.  As is typical for Hotchkiss though, they bounced back.  Andover regained some of its rhythm in set #4, but were called being in the net too often.

A hearty thank you to all the loyal fans who supported us throughout the season, from near and far (far away!).  A hearty thank you also to Paulino, Lisa, and now Kathy, Karen, Mike and Tony from the Athletics office, the entire Andover trainers corps and Isham Health center who have nursed us through this season.

We wish our seniors all the best: Meghan, Melissa, Viola and Katy.  Thanks for your hard work, the laughs.  It's been a tremendous honor being allowed to coach you these past combined 18 years :)

Congratulations to Choate who defeated Hotchkiss 3-1 in the final.

On one of the most soggy days EVER, Andover and Exeter battled in a dry gym for the second meeting of the season.  The author has little to go on other than the memory of the day a mere 10 hours ago; stats and records of the game, kept in a pocket of a rain jacket, were drenched in the ensuing hours when spectating the football game. Let's just say that this rain jacket is not nearly as rain proof as it was advertised to be. Suffice it to say that Exeter played a much better party this second time around and kept even with Andover in the first and second sets, even taking a lead at crucial times.  In the long run Andover prevailed.  In set 3 Exeter's spirit faded and they committed more errors than Andover did.

Many thanks to ALL the fans.  We look forward to the post-season play.  Word of who our next opponent should be will be issued by the league officers onSunday/Monday to the Athletic Directors.

Andover (a record of 9-1 and part of the large school league) beats Worcester Academy (a record of 14-2 and in the medium school league) at their gym. Andover looks ahead now to its final regular season game at Exeter this coming Saturday before the playoff start.  It is anticipated that Andover /Choate are ranked either #1/2 or# 2/1  depending on points awarded by a complicated Saylor system and strength of schedule, though Choate won the head-to-head match earlier in the season and is currently undefeated this season.
