Statement of Purpose

Crowd To recognize and honor alumni, teams, and coaches from Phillips and Abbot academies who displayed exceptional athletic ability on the field and who continue to lead a life that embodies the values of the academies.

Criteria for Selection

Alumni will submit nominations, and those selected will be inducted annually during Reunion Weekend. To be eligible for this honor, an alumna or alumnus must have graduated at least five years prior. The Selection Committee includes members of the Athletics Department, the Athletics Committee of the Alumni Council, and the Office of Alumni Affairs.

Nominations for 2012 Induction Year Are Open Until September 15

The Phillips Academy Alumni Council will accept nominations for the 2012 induction year up until September 15, 2011. Previously submitted nominations stand for consideration for future years. The Hall of Honor recognizes alumni, teams, and coaches from Phillips and Abbot academies. “We are currently looking at nominations for the fourth year of inductees. We are overwhelmed by the accomplishments of our outstanding alumni athletes and coaches,” says Abigail Harris ’96, co-chair of the Alumni Council Athletic Committee. She and co-chair Dan Dilorati ’75 manage the process of evaluation and nomination of inductees.

Inductees will be chosen for their accomplishments in athletics and for the exceptional ways in which they have continued to lead a life that embodies the values of the academies. Annually, alumni will be asked for nominations, and alumni, teams and coaches— living and deceased—will be recognized each Reunion Weekend. The Selection Committee includes members of the Athletics Department, the Athletics Committee of the Alumni Council, and the Office of Alumni Affairs. A permanent plaque featuring each recipient’s name will be displayed in the field house, and a photo and bio display will adorn the wall outside the swimming pool in the Academy’s gymnasium complex. Each honoree will be presented with a personal plaque during the induction. Submissions eligible for induction in 2008 are closed at this time, however, nominations are always accepted.
