How did you hear about Andover?

My father graduated from Andover in ‘72

Why did you choose Andover?

I wanted to be around my friends 24-7 and be a part of a larger community than back at home.

Favorite faculty member:

Mrs. Scott, my English teacher during lower year, is my favorite faculty member. She is always cheerful and has a light and relaxed personality. Over the course of the school year Mrs. Scott taught me important techniques to critical writing, and, at the same time, made it fun.

Favorite class:

My favorite class so far at Andover was my ceramics workshop with Mr. Zaeder. Four days a week, four classmates and I would gather in the isolated pottery studio and play with clay for several hours. I loved the class because I could incorporate many artistic styles that I had learned in the past into my 3D pieces. In addition, the class served as a break from academics, and I ended up making a few nice bowls and vases.

Why do you enjoy giving tours?

For three summers I have worked at a lobster restaurant in Maine, serving hungry customers their food. Soon after I started the job I realized that I loved helping and interacting with people. As a tour guide, I am able to meet new students and their families as well as support my school. What could be a better job?

Favorite Commons food:

French fries. Plates and plates of them.

Favorite Ryley Room food:

Chicken tenders

What do you do during your down time?

I spend most of my free time with friends— either downtown or on campus in their dorms, at their sports games, and at Commons. Other times I relax and watch a movie or work on an art project.

Favorite Andover tradition:

Head of School Day is by far my favorite Andover tradition. Mrs. Chase shocks the whole school by announcing a day off from classes in the middle of the long winter season—a pleasant and relaxing surprise for everybody.

Best thing about being a boarder:

Living with your friends all day, every day. Your best friends become your family. For me, there is not a better and more unique way to spend my high school career.

One thing you would change about Andover:

Friday night sign-in: make it 11:30 like Saturdays!
