Arabic

The Arabic-speaking world is complex and exciting, and Arabic is an increasingly important world language. It is the (or an) official language in over twenty countries, including Israel. We seek to introduce students not only to the language but also to the fascinating web of factors that make learning Arabic such a rewarding challenge. The newest of Andover’s language offerings, Arabic is offered in three formats: an intensive year-long language course (seniors only), a one-term introduction to the Arabic language, and a one-term introduction to the cultures of Arabic-speaking nations. Our hope is that students will be bitten by the Arabic “bug” and will go on to further study in college.
