Erin StrongErin Strong

Erin E. Strong joined the Phillips Academy faculty in 2005. Prior to moving to Massachusetts, Erin performed and taught for several years throughout New York City and New Jersey, most prominently as a member of the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company. Erin earned her BS in dance from Skidmore College where she worked for several years with Skidmore’s Summer Dance Workshops, studying closely with, among others, the Limon Company, Trisha Brown Company, and Mark Morris Dance Group. Erin earned her masters and teacher’s certification in K-12 Dance Education from NYU, being honored as a Susan Hersh Scholar. While in New York she danced with Damast Dancers and Kaleidoscope Dance Company, performing and teaching for students of all ages. She has a particular interest in helping students develop their artistry through the creation of their own choreography. Erin’s work as a dance educator is grounded in the belief that dance is a way of knowing and thinking about one’s world.

Judy WombwellJudy Wombwell

Instructor, Department of Theatre & Dance

After performing and choreographing for 15 years, Judith Wombwell moved to Massachusetts in 1995 to join the faculty of Phillips Academy. She has since worked to strengthen the dance program starting the Andover Dance Group, choreographing original productions that have toured to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, establishing a bi-annual production of the Nutcracker and overseeing several residencies with well know figures from the dance world. In addition to her work with Phillips Academy students Wombwell continues to explore her love for performance art and multimedia performances through her new project Deadfall Dance. Originally from Memphis, TN., she danced for several years with the Ballet Memphis serving as ballet mistress for her last three years. Wombwell choreographed several major works for the company including a full length Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella. While living in Memphis she also founded and co-directed the modern dance company Project: Motion and she returned in 2008 to dance at their 20th anniversary performance.
