Program & Information
This section provides a brief introduction to Andover's
rich and always evolving program. A common theme throughout is that
students and teachers model for each other a commitment to inquiry and
performance that makes Andover a truly vibrant and deliberately diverse
community of learners.
Because students make significant leaps in their cognitive and personal
development during their high school years, teaching methods at Andover
are varied to suit these developmental stages and to introduce methods
of inquiry specific to certain disciplines. As you will see in the Course of
Study, classes offered range from quick-paced introductions that
provide the structure and preparation for progressively more abstract and
advanced study, often well beyond introductory college courses.
Complementing their coursework, students work with community
partners both on and off campus, write, create and edit for student
publications, expand and explore new interests through scholars
programs and clubs, and participate in artistic exhibitions and
performances throughout the year.
