Profile
I first joined the PA faculty as a teaching fellow in 1985 after graduating from Brown University with a degree in biomedical engineering. After returning to Brown for graduate school, I re-joined the faculty as a full-time teacher in 1989. In addition to teaching science every year (a combination of biology, physics, and environmental science courses), I have also served as a cluster dean, as head of the science division, and a house counselor for 20 years. My current assignments include being the campus sustainability coordinator and head jv swim coach. Having been a scientist throughout, I have enjoyed staying connected to the research world through summer work in molecular biology at Princeton University and molecular evolution at the Marine Biological Laboratories in Woods Hole and a full year sabbatical studying embryonic neuron migration at Children’s Hospital, Boston. In my free time, I can most often be found riding a horse, hiking in a forest somewhere on the globe, or sailing across Buzzards Bay with family and friends.
