This page contains a general outline of the events sponsored by the College Counseling Office throughout the year.

SEPTEMBER

  • Meetings for seniors with their college counselors
  • Fall College Fairs: There are usually two fall fairs with 40 - 50 colleges represented at each fair. These fairs are open to 11th and 12th graders.
  • Numerous college visitors and interviewers will be on our campus throughout the fall and winter terms.

OCTOBER

  • Fall visits and interviews with college representatives.
  • PSAT given to all 11th graders and some 10th graders
  • University of California Workshop: Recommended to all seniors applying to the University of California system.
  • SAT Reasoning and SAT Subject Tests (usually offered the second Saturday in October)
  • ACT Test
  • Essay Writing Workshop (recommended for all seniors)
  • Parents Weekend: College Admissions Panel (open to all classes)
  • Financial Aid Workshop for parents of students from PA and Andover High School

NOVEMBER

  • Fall visits and interviews with college representatives continue
  • "Let's Get Acquainted" meetings with College Counselors (cluster-based for all 11th graders)
  • SAT Reasoning and SAT Subject Tests (usually offered the first Saturday in November)
  • Early decision and early action applications due

DECEMBER

  • SAT Reasoning and/or SAT Subject Tests (usually offered the first Saturday in December)
  • ACT Test

JANUARY

  • Most college applications are due
  • College counselors begin individual meetings with 11th graders.
  • SAT Reasoning (strongly recommended for all PA 11th graders)
  • SAT Subject Tests
  • College Interviews for seniors

FEBRUARY

  • College Counseling "Kick -Off" for 11th grade parents
  • Gap Year and Summer Opportunities Fair
  • ACT Test

MARCH, APRIL, MAY:

Spring Focus Meetings, Open to PA 11th graders Topics may include:

  • UCAS and British Colleges & Universities
  • Lessons Learned by Seniors during the college admission process
  • Engineering
  • Interviewing & College Visiting
  • Athletics and College Admissions
  • The Arts in the Admission Process
  • Military Academies & ROTC
  • College Essay Workshop

APRIL

  • 11th graders continue individual meetings with college counselors
  • ACT Test
  • College Fair: approximately 150 colleges represented. All 11th and 10th grade students and parents welcome

MAY

  • 11th graders continue individual meetings with college counselors
  • SAT Reasoning & Subject Tests (usually offered the first Saturday in May)

JUNE

  • SAT Reasoning Subject Tests (usually offered the first Saturday in June)
  • ACT Test

Please note: College counselors meet regularly with seniors in individual appointments throughout the year, and with eleventh graders beginning in late January.
