How to Apply
The Brace Center for Gender Studies announces student and faculty leadership opportunities for the 2009-10 academic year.
All returning students are eligible to apply for one or more of the following leadership opportunities offered through the Brace Center for Gender Studies. Returning faculty are eligible to serve as a faculty advisor for a Student Fellow applicant. The application deadline for Student Proctors is noon Friday, May 1. The application deadline for Student Fellows is noon, Monday, April 6. Applications should be placed in Tony Rotundo's faculty box.
Brace Center Student Proctors
Up to sixteen returning students will be chosen to serve as Brace Center Student Proctors. Proctors are responsible for monitoring the Center during evening open study hours which are held from Monday-Thursday from 6:30-9:30 when classes are in session. Responsibilities include welcoming guests and apprising them of the resources available, maintaining a safe and friendly atmosphere congenial for study and relaxation, monitoring the sign-in/out sheets, helping the Administrator and/or Director with occasional office related tasks, and set up/clean up of refreshments. Proctors also serve as representatives of the Center and student consultants to the Director. This position requires a 90 minute commitment per week and can fulfill the work duty requirement.

Brace Center Student Fellows
All returning students are eligible to apply to be a Brace Center Student Fellow. Up to five applicants will be selected to pursue independent summer research projects within the multidisciplinary field of gender studies. See the Brace Center Web Site for a description of past projects. Students will select and work closely with a faculty advisor as well as the Director of the Brace Center during spring term of this year to focus and shape projects that will be developed and completed during the summer. Student Fellows will present their findings in a public forum in the fall. Student Fellows receive a stipend of $250. Students will also receive research support for up to $100.
