Academic Support Center (ASC)
Welcome to the Academic Support Center (ASC). Our goal is to lend support to students in an effort to help them attain their academic goals. We are conveniently located on the second floor of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Library in the McLean Gallery. Students meet with an academic support specialist during business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm). Appointments with ASC faculty can be arranged by contacting the secretary.
Study, Organizational, and Time Management Skills
Need help? Just ASC!
The ASC faculty meets with students individually to teach strategies for organizing work, managing time, and improving study skills. Additionally, tips on study skills -- including organizational and note-taking strategies and advice on studying for tests – can be found in the booklet "Essential Study Skills," which is distributed to new students during the fall term. The online form of the booklet can be found on PANet under the Academic Resources tab. Tutoring in math, sciences and world languages is provided through the Peer Tutoring Program. Students qualified to tutor particular courses are available to assist you, meeting with you individually at times and places that are mutually convenient. Students experiencing difficulty in a particular course should first seek help from the teacher of that course, and continue to do so even when working with ASC faculty or a peer tutor.
