Chad Green Helps Inspire Fledgling Changemakers
Andover's community service director delivers keynote address at Youth CITIES launch event
September 23, 2009
—An eclectic group of business executives, activists, and teenagers gathered at MIT on Sept.16 to listen to Chad Green, PA's director of community service, speak about young people as changemakers at the kickoff reception for Youth CITIES (Creating Impact Through Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability).
The Youth CITIES program consists of teams of high school students who compete to create a new social venture that leverages business principles to drive social change. The winning team will receive a seed grant to launch their initiative.
As the keynote speaker for the event, Green sought to inspire and motivate by sharing the experiences of PA students involved in several of PA's own service learning programs, such as the Niswarth program that worked with the Mumbai community in India. He also shared a list of four key characteristics to being a successful social entrepreneur. To read the full text of Green's speech, click here.
