Wenyu Cao '11 Places First in National Math Competition
Wins $20,000 Scholarship and Spot on U.S. Team

—Andover student Wenyu Cao '11 of Belle Mead, N.J., won first place in the USA Mathematical Olympiads, in which 525 secondary students competed in an online test this past April for the national title. Cao will win a $20,000 scholarship for his victory and compete on the U.S. team this summer in the International Mathematical Olympiad. The 2009 U.S. Team, which consists of five members in addition to Cao, is attending an intensive Olympiad Summer Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln until July 3. The team will then travel to Bremen, Germany where they will compete from July 10 to July 22 for the international title.
