Student to Perform in Boston Concert on Dec. 1

Cellist Bobby Chen ’10 to play Shostakovich Cello Concerto No.1

November 05, 2008 -Cellist Bobby Chen, PA '10, from Newton, Massachusetts, will perform at the New England Philharmonic Young Artists Competition winner's concert on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Boston University's Tsai Performance Center. Chen will be performing the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No.1 in E flat Major, conducted by Richard Pittman.

Chen will also perform at the Newton Cultural Center on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. with the Walden Chamber Players where he will play the Schubert Cello Quintet in C Major. Chen earned this performance opportunity by winning the Walden Chamber Players Young Artists Competition last spring. The Walden Chamber Players Young Artist Competition is held annually to promote and encourage young musicians from the greater Boston area interested in the performance and study of chamber music. As the winner of the competition, Chen earned the opportunity to perform with the Walden Chamber Players as well as a cash prize.
