Dance Performance on Jan. 9 to Investigate Time and Place
"Strung Together" features a series of loosely related dances
January 06, 2009
-- Theatre and dance instructor Judith Wombwell will present “Strung Together," a series of loosely related dances investigating time and place, at 8 p.m. on Friday Jan. 9 in the Steinbach Theater. This is a free event that is open to the public. Seats will be available on a first come first serve basis.
Supported by a Kenan Grant, Wombwell used this opportunity to experiment with unfamiliar choreographic techniques and the integration of provocative visual and multimedia elements. Two new works resulted: “Time & Place” and “Figure/Ground.” In these new works Wombwell strove to keep the creative rehearsal process of equal value to—if not more important than—the final product. The other dancers, theatre and dance instructor Erin E. Strong, Shannon Gauthier, faculty spouse Lauren Kepes, and Cynthia Williams, shared the responsibility for this process, said Wombwell. This group will be joined by Natalie Wombwell ‘01 and Renee Amirault ’07, who will perform “Integral" and “Shed.”
