Tang Challenge Matches Andover Fund Gifts Dollar for Dollar
Program, which runs until May 31, doubles the impact each gift has on key Academy priorities
March 11, 2009
-- Thanks to Board of Trustees President Oscar L. Tang ’56 and a group of donors -- known as the $1 Million+ Challenge Team -- the Andover Fund challenge is in full swing for the third year running. The challenge, which kicked off January 1, offers a dollar-for-dollar match for every gift to the Andover Fund by May 31, 2009. Please click here to maximize your gift.
In an effort to encourage donors to make unrestricted gifts of any size, Tang established the challenge to match every gift, up to a total of $2 million. Last year, 65 percent of gifts to the Andover Fund were between $25 and $250. The Andover Fund helps the Academy fund some of its highest priorities, like need-blind admission and faculty support.
In the first year of the challenge, 10 team members answered the call to match gifts to the Andover Fund, resulting in an additional $2.2 million in donations. Last year, the effort raised more than $2.7 million, pushing the Andover Fund to a record $8.6 million.
This year, there are 17 challengers and 803 donors so far, for a total of $996,536.70 raised to date. The final results will be announced Reunion Weekend, June 12–14
