Cellist Rainer Crosett '10 to Offer First Recital of the Year
Performance to be held in Timken Room on October 3
September 23, 2008
— A young Phillips Academy cellist who has studied at the New England Conservatory will present the first on-campus music recital of the new academic year on Friday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the newly renovated Timken Room in Graves Hall. Rainer Crosett ’10 will perform the Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major by Johann Sebastian Bach; Sonata No. 6 in A Major by Luigi Coccherini; Cello Concerto No. 2 in E Minor by Victor Herbert; and Pampeana No. 2 by Alberto Ginastera. Christopher Walter, instructor in music, has described Crosett as “a very talented and very passionate player, and a wonderful musician.” Walter said although not unprecedented, it is unusual for musicians younger than seniors to present solo recitals.
Crosett, who is from North Andover, Mass., has studied for a number of years under well-known cello teacher Mark Churchill at the New England Conservatory. He will be accompanied by renowned Russian-born pianist Dina Vainshtein.
