37 Students Honored by National Merit Scholarship Program
Finalists’ PSAT scores rank among top 1 percent in the country

-- Thirty- seven Phillips Academy seniors have earned national recognition as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship award as a result of their performance on the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The following finalists were chosen from 16,000 semifinalists nationwide, and will now compete for 8,200 National Merit Scholarships totaling $35 million.

Dickey (Guilford, Conn.), Benjamin T. Elder (Lexington, Ky.), Emanuel L. Feld (Kinderhook, N.Y.), Tony L. Feng (Avon, Conn.), James R. Foster (Verona, Wis.), Daniel S. More than 1.5 million high school juniors took the 2008 PSAT/NMSQT tests, but less than 1 percent earned the distinction of being named a finalist. Half of the finalists nationwide will likely be selected as Merit Scholarship winners, earning the Merit Scholar title, and an individual scholarship of $2,500.
Winners will be announced in four special designee press releases between April and July
