The Board of Trustees invited all alumni, parents, students and friends of the Academy to attend the investiture of John G. Palfrey Jr., 15th head of school of Phillips Academy on Sunday, September 23, 2012. This milestone event took place at 1 p.m.  on the Great Quadrangle in front of Samuel Phillips Hall, followed by a reception in Flagstaff Courtyard.

Taking part in the event were faculty, staff, students, trustees, representatives from colleges, universities and secondary schools, as well as the 14th head of school, Barbara Landis Chase.

Peter Currie ’74, president of the board of trustees, led the ceremony to formally welcome and “charge” the 15th head of school. Chase presented the “Eliphalet Pearson gavel,” traditionally passed from one head of school to the next.
